Juan G. Mejia 

Is the founder and owner of Mejia Law Group

He is a trilingual attorney, proficient in English, Spanish and Portuguese, who has focused his legal career on the representation of community associations, primarily in collections and covenant enforcement litigation. He also represents clients in real estate related matters and litigation throughout the state of Florida.

Juan is a member of the Real Property, Probate & Trust Law Section for the Florida Bar and among his accomplishments, he is listed as a Florida Super Lawyers Rising Star attorney for the years of 2019 and 2020. Under this highly selective category, no more than 2.5 percent of attorneys in each state are recognized.

Juan graduated from the University of Florida and received his law degree from the Florida International University School of Law. While in law school, he earned several awards such as the American Bar Association’s Award for Excellence in the Study of Intellectual Property Law, as well as the CALI Excellence for the Future Awards for both, Intellectual Property Law and Computer & Internet Law.

Mr. Alonso is a member of the Florida Bar, Tennessee Bar, and the Bar of the Federal District Court for the Southern District of Florida.  Mr. Alonso fluently reads, writes, and converses in Spanish. Mr. Alonso is a native and current resident of Miami.  Mr. Alonso’s parents were born in Cuba and immigrated to the United States.

Mr. Alonso graduated with honors from the University of Miami (B.B.A. 2005, cum laude) and thereafter graduated in the top 5% of his class from the Florida International University College of Law (J.D. 2009, cum laude). During law school, Mr. Alonso earned Book Awards (top performer in class) and received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in the study of Property Law, Constitutional Law, Federal Income Tax Law, and Corporate and Partnership Tax Law. Mr. Alonso made the Dean’s List in all six semesters at FIU Law, served on the FIU Law Review as an Articles Editor, and worked in FIU Law’s Community Development Clinic advising small business owners.  Mr. Alonso also holds an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Florida Levin College of Law.

Mr. Alonso’s current areas of practice include condominium and homeowners association lien foreclosure, real estate litigation, amendment and restatement of community association governing documents, community association corporate governance, landlord-tenant disputes including security deposit litigation, mortgage foreclosures, collections litigation, foreclosure and tax deed investor representation, and general civil litigation. Mr. Alonso has attended hundreds of motion calendar hearings over 10 years of practice.
